Brett Tollman is the CEO of The Travel Corporation (TTC) and co-founder of the TreadRight Foundation, with over 35 years’ travel and tourism experience. We caught up with him to find out more about his trips with Luxury Gold partner, ME to WE, an innovative social enterprise providing products and experiences that make an impact.

Last summer, I experienced my first ME to WE purpose driven trip to Kenya with my family, which was co-hosted by the inspirational co-founders, Craig and Marc Kielburger.

We received an in-depth, hands-on view of the remarkable social change which they have brought to the communities in the Maasai Mara over the past 20+ years. They have built numerous schools (including a new college), the first hospital complete with ambulance services, and drilled many clean-water wells throughout the community. They also built organic farms for safe food sources and facilitated fantastic economic empowerment initiatives for the local women.

It was truly a life-changing experience for all of us. My family, The Travel Corporation (TTC) and our TreadRight Foundation have each made a lifetime commitment to support WE Charity and their WE Villages across the globe, whilst continuing to help promote ME to WE’s impactful Kenya, Ecuadorian Amazon and India trips to our travelers.

For many years, India has been the number one destination for my wife and me, and I am so excited to be visiting this iconic destination for the first time this summer with my family. It is a destination that has always fascinated us, especially how its incredible cultural traditions and art forms have evolved for thousands of years.

We will be joining a ME to WE culturally immersive trip and volunteering on a sustainable development project just outside of Udaipur in the Aravalli mountains, surrounded by the peaceful, rural countryside.

We are also looking forward to meeting with community members and learning about their daily lives. We will have the opportunity to meet a local farmer, learn about his agricultural challenges, and see WE’s impact in rehabilitating water sources for enhanced irrigation.

We will enjoy first-hand, India’s traditional artisan crafts such as block-printing and tie-dying. My family and I are looking forward to joining a men’s or women’s circle to hear their personal stories and insights.

WE Villages’ “5 Pillars of Impact“ help achieve sustainable community development goals and break the cycle of poverty. They enable scalable change within these local communities by providing food, health, water, education and opportunity (including alternative income initiatives, such as organizing women’s groups who receive financial literacy and livelihood training).

Joining a ME to WE trip is a truly gratifying and transformative experience, which helps the local communities and offers you an intimate connection with the local people. I invite you to embark on your own purpose-driven trip with Luxury Gold and Me to WE.

If of interest, you will be able to read about my family’s trip on my personal blog – bretttollman.com.
